Prompt / Quick Prompt
Prompt and Quick Prompt insert dimension values as filters into your formulas or extractions. Both tools read the data model referenced by the selected cell and only show dimensions that have a prompt defined.
The selected values are written directly into the active cell as filter parameters. The difference is in how many values you can select: Prompt supports multiple selections and displays full dimension details (codes, descriptions, attributes) to help you identify the right values. Quick Prompt is limited to a single value and skips the extra context.
Prompt vs. Quick Prompt
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Prompt | Opens a full dialog where you can browse, search, sort, and select multiple values at once. Use it when you need to see codes, descriptions, or attributes before choosing. |
| Quick Prompt | Inserts a single value with no additional context. Use it when you already know the value you need. |

- Pick values from a long list using search, sort, and filter tools to find the right item.
