Clear Cache
The Add-in uses a caching system to store data locally and improve NecAccess formula calculation performance. This includes data retrieved from your data models as well as security settings defined in your SEI environment. Over time, cached data can become outdated or inconsistent, which can affect report accuracy.
Clear Cache removes locally stored cache data so your Excel file retrieves fresh information directly from the connected source on the next calculation.
When to clear the cache
- Make changes to views, dimensions, or security settings in SEI and the Excel file has not picked up the updates yet.
- See unexpected or inconsistent results that do not match what is in the source data.
- Force a full data refresh to bypass cached values and retrieve current data directly from the server.
Clear the cache
- Open the Add-ins tab and select Clear Cache.
- Select the type of cache you want to clear.
- If you select Cached Data Model Data, choose a specific reference to clear or select All.
- (Optional) Select Reporting Tree to also clear cached nodes used in Reporting Tree filters.
- (Optional) Select Refresh Excel File to reload the sheet with the most recent data after clearing.
- Click Ok.
Cache options
| Option | What it clears |
|---|---|
| Cached Data Model Data | Cached data associated with the selected data model reference. |
| Cached Security Data | Cached security information, including data model authorization and field-level security settings. |
| Reporting Tree | Cached nodes used by Reporting Tree filters. |
| Refresh Excel File | This is not a cache option. It triggers an automatic refresh of your Excel file after the cache is cleared. |
How Reporting Tree caching works
If your Excel file uses Reporting Tree filters, the caching behavior is slightly different from standard references.
- All filter nodes and groups share a single common cache, so clearing one clears all of them.
- A partial-refresh layer allows formulas to recalculate faster without requiring a full structure refresh when only part of the hierarchy has changed.
