Data Model Configuration
The Data Model Configuration dialog lists the data models your Excel file currently uses and the data models published in the connected Central Point. From this dialog, you map each data model in your file to one that's available, without editing formulas or rebuilding connections.
Remapping applies when you open an Excel file in a different Central Point and the data model names or IDs no longer match the originals.
When to remap a data model
- Open an Excel file in a different Central Point where the data models do not match the ones originally used, so your formulas and connections continue to work without any manual edits.
- Redirect connections after a data model is renamed or replaced in the Central Point, without touching any formula in the file directly.
What's in the dialog
| Panel | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Workbook Configuration | The data models your Excel file currently uses, sorted into two groups:
|
| Available Data Models | Every published data model in the connected Central Point. Each one shows the name followed by a unique ID in parentheses. Pick NA to clear the mapping for the selected entry. |
Map a data model
- Go to the Add-ins tab and select Data Model Configuration.
- In the Workbook's Configuration panel, pick the data model you want to remap. Choose from Data Extraction / Pivot data model or Reference data model, based on which connection you're updating.
- In the Available Data Models panel, pick the model you want to map it to.
- Select Save to apply, then Close.
note
Mapped data models do not need to match by name. You can map any data model from your Excel file to any available data model in the list regardless of what they are called.
