Groups
Groups are the primary way to manage permissions in SEI. Instead of configuring access on individual user accounts, you assign permissions, roles, and data model access to a group, and every member of that group inherits them automatically. A user can belong to multiple groups, and permissions from all groups are combined.
When to use groups
- Onboard a new team member by adding them to the right group instead of configuring their access from scratch.
- Change access for an entire team by updating one group rather than editing every user account individually.
- Separate access by department or role so each team only sees the data models, environments, and features relevant to their work.
Create a group
- In the navigation panel, select the gear icon to open the Administration section.
- Select Security, then Groups.
- Click New.
- Fill in the required fields.
- Click Create.
