Upgrade Template

Template updates in each new release may introduce important changes and new features. However, do not install a new template directly over an existing template.

For detailed steps, follow the guide for your specific template.

important

Always back up your databases and Central Point folder before importing or updating templates. This helps prevent accidental data loss or overwriting.

  • Install and test new templates in a dedicated test environment (such as a test Central Point) before making changes to production.
  • Only apply changes you want to keep to your production environment, either manually or by using the template import tool.
  • After upgrade, the original template and all existing data models, dashboards, and configurations remain usable, unless replaced during update.

Template import and update behavior

During import, the tool compares unique identifiers (GUIDs) to match elements such as data models, views, dashboards, reports, and cubes between the template and your Central Point.

  • Elements ready to add will have checkboxes marked in the Add column. Elements already present or unchanged will be marked as Skip.
  • If you select Update, the system will replace Central Point contents with template data, including deletion of any modifications made since the previous installation.
note

Version numbers for data models, views, dashboards, reports, and workbooks reflect their state at the last template installation and may not always represent the current state reliably.
