You can often use a backup plan similar to your main data source, but always consult a technical specialist to tailor the approach for your environment.
Central Point components to back up
Central Point consists of two critical elements:

| Shared folder | Stores all application configuration, metadata, and user-generated content. |
| SEI database | Stores system settings, user accounts, application data, and connections. |

Always back up both the Shared Folder and the SEI Database at the same time to ensure a consistent restore point.
Data warehouse backup considerations
Regularly back up your SEI Data Warehouse database, especially if any of these apply:
- The main data source database is too large to recover or rebuild quickly.
- OLAP cubes store historical data from external systems.
