Create Data Model

A data model defines how SEI organizes and interprets data from a selected data source. You use the Data Model Designer to select tables, views, and fields, and to configure relationships between them.

Create a data model

  1. Select Data Models and Views from the navigation panel.
  2. Right-click the folder where you want to add a data model, and select New Data Model.
  3. Enter a unique name for your data model.
  4. From the Data Source dropdown list, choose the associated data source.
  5. Click Confirm. The Data Model Designer window opens.

note

The selected data source determines which tables and views are available for the data model.

Preview a data model

Use the Data Model Preview feature to view sample data based on the definition of your fields, without closing the designer window or opening a separate view.

  1. In Data Models and Views, right-click a data model, and select Data Model Designer.
  2. On the toolbar, click Data Model Preview.
  3. Review the displayed sample data. The preview reflects your current field definitions in the data model.
  4. Close the dialog when finished.

Delete a data model

  1. In Data Models and Views, right-click a data model, and select Delete Data Model.
  2. In the confirmation dialog, select Delete.
