Manage SMTP
Use the Manage SMTP page to set up the SMTP server that SEI uses to send email notifications. After you configure SMTP, SEI can send messages such as report deliveries and system notifications through your organization’s mail server.
Authentication type
Choose the authentication method supported by your SMTP provider. When available, OAuth 2.0 is the recommended option because it avoids using SMTP passwords and provides stronger security than basic authentication, while no authentication should be used only in controlled relay scenarios approved by your mail administrator.
| Type | When to use |
|---|---|
| No authentication | Use when your SMTP server accepts unauthenticated relay from the SEI server. |
| Basic authentication | Use when your SMTP server requires a username and password. |
| OAuth 2.0 | Use for Microsoft Entra ID and Exchange Online (Microsoft 365) and other providers that support OAuth 2.0 client credentials. |
