Dashboard Example
This example walks you through creating and configuring a sample Sales Analysis Dashboard, adding views and titles, and setting up filters for interactive analysis.
Create and set up your dashboard
- From the navigation panel, select Dashboards.
- Right-click the folder where you want to add your dashboard, and then select New Dashboard.
- In the Description box, enter
Sales Analysis Dashboard. - Select Confirm. The dashboard opens in edit mode.
Add and arrange views
Insert existing views
- From the navigation panel, select Data Models and Views.
- Under the Sales folder, expand the Invoice Analysis data model, and select Top 10 Customers. (Tip: Use the search bar to find it quickly.)
- Drag the view into your preferred position within the dashboard.
- Resize the view to optimize how it fits on the dashboard.
- From the navigation panel, add the following additional views by dragging them into the dashboard:
- Month to Month Revenue vs. Margin
- Product Outlier Analysis
- Vector Map USA View
- Resize the views so they fit well together in the layout.
Add titles to each view
- Resize the views inside your dashboard to leave space above each one for a title.
- In the Toolbar panel on the right, select the Miscellaneous Controls icon.
- Select Text Panel and drag it above the Product Outlier Analysis view. Use the handle to adjust the panel size as needed.
- Select the panel, and then select the gear icon to open the properties panel on the right.
- Expand General, and enter
Product Outlier Analysisin the text box. - Repeat the process for the other three views by dragging a Text Panel above each.
- Enter the following titles:
Top 10 CustomersMonth to Month Revenue vs. MarginVector Map USA View
Configure filters
Add a filtering panel to filter for the year 2019
- In the Toolbar panel on the right, select the Dashboard Properties icon.
- Expand Filtering Panel.
- Search for the Year dimension, and then select Add.
- Expand Year.
- In Views to apply filter, select Select All from the dropdown list.
- Locate the filtering panel at the top of the dashboard.
- From the Year dropdown list, select
2019.
All views linked to the filter update automatically to show data for 2019 only.
Add an instant filter to filter by the top 1 customer
Now, we will add an instant filter so selecting a customer in one view filters all the other views.
- Select the Top 10 Customers view, and then select the gear icon.
- Select the Advanced Options tab.
- Expand Interactions.
- Acivate Enable the single selection.
- In Views to apply filter, select Select All from the dropdown list.
- Close the properties panel.
- In the Top 10 Customers bar chart, select the first customer.
The dashboard updates automatically and all other views filter based on the selected customer.
