Data Sources
A data source is a database connection from which cube data is retrieved. In the OLAP Manager, cubes can use one or multiple data sources, which may be of different types such as SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2. Configuring data sources is essential for defining which tables and fields are available in the cube, and for controlling how data is loaded, refreshed, and filtered through the Data Source Editor.
In this section:
| Section | Description |
|---|---|
| Add a data source | Add a new database connection to a cube, select the source type, and configure its connection settings. |
| Delete a data source | Remove an existing data source from a cube while preserving cube data if needed. |
| Use the data source editor | Design table joins, select dimensions and measures, add tracking, and apply filters to cube data. |
| Map dimensions and measures | Link cube dimensions and measures to corresponding data source fields to ensure accurate data retrieval during builds and refreshes. |
