The Cost Structure & Expense Efficiency dashboard for Sage X3 slices operating expenses by category, tracks whether expenses are growing faster than revenue, and shows how amortization and interest affect net income and EBITDA. It helps finance and executive leaders spot which cost categories are driving spending and whether cost growth is putting pressure on profit.

How to use the cost structure and expense efficiency dashboard​

  • Review the expense breakdown to see which cost categories represent the largest share of operating expenses.
  • Compare expenses month over month and against last year to spot increases or seasonal patterns.
  • Check if expenses are growing faster than revenue using the year over year variance chart to detect cost pressure.
  • Assess the impact of non operating expenses on net income through amortization and interest expense trends.

Key performance indicators (KPIs)​

The key performance indicators (KPIs) are displayed at the top of the dashboard. They show operating expenses, expense growth, and non operating costs, and update based on the filters you apply.

EBITDAEarnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, showing operating profitability before non cash charges.
Expenses Growth RateYear over year percentage change in total expenses, indicating whether spending is accelerating or slowing down.
