Link To Formula
The Link To formula creates a dynamic hyperlink in a cell, and the Excel Add-in inserts it as a NecLink formula. Each link is built from the Application Links configured in SEI, which define where the link points and which parameters it needs.
You can reference other cells as parameter values, so the link updates automatically when those cells change. When you click the link, it opens the target page in your browser with the correct parameters already applied, whether that is an ERP record, a dashboard, or an external page.
When to create a link formula
- Open ERP records directly from Excel using a value already in your sheet, such as a customer, invoice, or order number.
- Open a report or dashboard pre-filtered to the values in your sheet.
- Create dynamic hyperlinks that update automatically when the referenced cells change.
- Access external systems such as web pages or custom URLs without leaving Excel.
Create a Link To formula
- In the Add-ins tab, select Link To Formula.
- In the Link To dropdown, select the application link that points to your destination.
- Enter the required parameters. Type the values, or reference cells to make the link dynamic.
- Click Ok. The
NecLinkformula is inserted into the selected cell. - Click the generated link to open the destination in your browser.
You want users to jump directly from Excel into the ERP to review transactions for a specific account and period shown in your sheet.
Example
- In the Add-ins tab, click Link To Formula.
- In the Link To dropdown, select the GL Detail application link.
- Enter the required parameters, Fiscal Year, Period From-To, and Account, by typing values or referencing cells.
- Click Ok. Excel inserts a
NecLinkformula in the selected cell. Clicking it opens GL Detail with these parameters.
Reference cells for the parameters instead of entering values manually. That way the link updates automatically when the account or period changes in your sheet.
